DMK MP Kanimozhi and Kalaingnar TV Managing Director, Sharad Kumar has challenged the Delhi High Court verdict rejecting them bail on 8th of June. They have moved up to Supreme Court on Friday seeking for bail.
“We have filed a special leave petition on behalf of both Kanimozhi and Kumar challenging the high court order,” advocate VG Pragasam said to media. SC might hear the case on Monday.
Earlier Delhi High Court on 8th of June 2011 rejected their bail petition saying that, they both have strong political background and they may influence the witnesses and may also interfere the investigation if their petition is accepted.
High Court said that, “Since the petitioners are in control of Kalaingar TV, they are in position of power to influence the witnesses, particularly the company employees. They have got strong political party to which accused A Raja belongs and the said party shares power in the Centre. Considering their financial and political clout, a possibility cannot be ruled out that if freed, they would interfere with the investigation or try to influence the witnesses”.
