Sonia Gandhi to undergo surgery in US-Disease not known

Sonia Gandhi, Congress President will soon undergo surgery in US, as told by Congress spokes person. She is expected to be abroad for a period of three weeks. Earlier rumor raised that, the surgery has been done and it has been successful, “We have just got information that the surgery is successful and her condition is satisfactory.” Later Congress General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi told reporters that the operation has not been yet performed and will take place in a day or two depending on the team of doctors who are looking over her.

He told that 64-year-old leader had recently been to US in order to get diagnosis and doctors advised them surgery. He said "On the advice of her doctors, she has travelled abroad and she is likely to be away for two to three weeks” .

Party insiders are quite regarding the disease and its nature, an insider told that she had been to US few months earlier for the same medical problem, where she had diagnosis while this one is for surgery and treatment.

It might be assumed that the disease is not so severe as Sonia resumed the work with Manmohan Singh in  Cabinet reshuffle after her last visit to US. According to sources who are close to Sonia also told that, the rumors regarding Sonia Gandhi spending vacations in Switzerland had no base, she was getting medical investigations. However, it has not been disclosed in order to maintain the privacy.

Sonia Gandhi has appointed a committee including her son Rahul Gandhi and senior Party leaders A K Antony, Ahmed Patel and Janardhan Dwivedi who will look after the Party affairs in her absence, told Dwivedi.
