Tuesday, July 26, 2011

2G Scam took a u turn on Monday when A. Raja dragged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P. Chidambaram (now Home Minister) in the scam. Raja who is currently imprisoned in special cell in Tihar Jail, Bihar claimed that he has not done anything wrong.

In the Special Court, on Monday he said that, "The matter of enforced share selling by companies like Swan and Unitech in order to avail shares to the foreign companies, has been discussed with Prime Minister and Finance Minister". Raja also said that, "I'm not the only one who sold the licenses instead of auctioning it, and named other ministers including Telecom Minister Arun Shourie and Dayanidhi Maran who sold 26 and 25 licenses respectively and the number of licenses doesn't matter, the thing which matters is that they didn't auctioned them as well".

Raja also added, "If they are not wrong then why am i only been questioned? Let them say that they have not done what i did. I have only followed the rule passed by the cabinet in 2003, in which it was mentioned that there wouldn't be any auction for 2G Spectrum".

What's the reaction of Chidambaram and Prime Minister?

"Unitech and Swan Telecom has not sold the spectrum to Foreigners. They have only been included by introducing new shares by the promoters."

-P.Chidambaram, Home Minister

"Shri Raja gave an statement in court. Why should we comment on that? It doesn't have anything to comment on."

-PMO

On this issue, leaders of opposition also commented and targeted the central government. BJP was at the front and others also followed.
"Prime Minister and Home Minister have lost the right to be on the throne. Both of them should resighn as soon as possible."

-Nitin Gadkari, BJP Chief
