Anna Hazare unhappy with Lokpal Bill & will resume indefinite fast from 16th August

Central Government has drafted the Lokpal bill yesterday that is on 28th of July 2011 and granted it an approval but they have shorted out the major demands of Social activist Anna Hazare and his team. Team Anna pointed this as a fraud with the citizens and Hazare announced to resume his indefinite fast at Jantar-Mantar from 16th of August 2011.

A total of 35 points out of 40 has been granted but those 5 which has not been included were the backbones of the Lokpal. Now just look into the good and bad points of Lokpal Bill issued by Government.

Advantages of Lokpal Bill:-

• Prime Minister will not be in their reach however, PM can be put under an investigation after he leave the post. 
• Committee will have eight members and a chief with half of the members having a legal background. Rest of the four will be having a minimum experience of 25 years of working in anti-corruption departments  and various fields. Political person will not be a member, and the members will not be able to participate in elections and will never join any political party.
• Committee headed by Prime Minister will elect the members of Lokpal.
• The tenure of a lokpal will be of 5 years and the decision will be made after the advice of President and Chief Justice.
• Officials of under-secretary rank and above under reach.
• Public Enterprise, NGO's which are either government funded or public, Trust and committees will be free from Lokpal.

Lacks of Lokpal:-

• Lokpal will be selected by a 9 member committe headed by PM in which 5 will be from the side of government, which indirectly means that Government will finally elect them.
• Prime Minister, Justices and the corruption by Member of Parliaments under Parliament will be out of their reach which means that they will be unable to investigate issues such as 2G Spectrum, Note Scandal, Commonwealth Games Scam, Aadarsh Society. 
• Government scams such as Karnataka Mining Scam will be out of their reach.
• It will not hear the complaints of people who are sad due to corruption.
• Complaints of lower level of official and workers wil not lie under their panel.
• It will not handle a case which is 7 years old which means that Bo-force and fodder scam has been kept out of their hands.
