After winning the toss, Kumar Sangakara decided to put Kolkata Knight Riders into bat first. Knight Riders started very slowly due to good bowling attack from Deccan Chargers. After Morgan’s departure, Kallis and Gautam Gambhir scored some useful runs for Kolkata Knight Riders. Two drop catches of Yusuf Pathan was big turning point of the match. Yusuf Pathan and Tiwary took away KKR to 169 runs which was big total against Deccan chargers.
It was not such a big target for Deccan Chargers with such a strong batting line up. Sohal and Dhawan started off well but the failure of middle order was again responsible for their spoiled innings. Sangakara departed on duck whereas Bhatia picked the wickets of Cameroon White and Christian in the same over. Deccan Chargers just reached 149 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 20 runs. This was their second consecutive defeat in this IPL.
