England beat Sri Lanka by 16 runs, wins series by 3-2

It was one of the most exciting contests between bat and ball after the ICC World Cup. England won the toss and decided to bat first. Openers Kieswetter and Cook contributed 85 runs for the first wicket partnership.3 quick wickets in the form of Cook, Kieswetter and Pietersen put the English side at the back foot but the arrival of Trott and Morgan once again put the English team back on track. Both scored half centuries and helped England to reach 268 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Randiv was the successful bowler who picked 5 wickets haul for Sri Lanka.



In reply to England, Sri-Lanka got off to a very poor start as they were 3 down for just 29 runs. Then, Kumar Sangakkara and Chandimal contributed superb partnership which created a ray of hope in Lankan's dressing room. Clever bowling from Swann helped in breaking this partnership. When Sangakkara too left the ground, Fans seems to think that match is over but another 100 runs partnership from Mendis and Matthews brought SriLanka right back in the game. Good bowling from English players bowled out Sri Lanka in the last 2nd over at 252. England won the series by 3-2 in fascinating manner.
