Central Information Commission Ordered CBI to make public information about Niira Radia

CBI’s argument regarding Niira Radia case has been overruled by the Central Information Commission, CIC. Agency (CBI) argued that public information regarding Niira Radia, who was involved in the Spectrum Allocation scam will lead to disclosure of the probe.




Corporate lobbyist Niira has been arrested regarding 2G Spectrum Scam and has been interrogated by CBI. Now, the CIC wants CBI to issue public information regarding Niira. CIC put a deadline of 10th of June 2011 to do the same before the agency. 


Major happenings in 2G Scam:


  • Tanya Thakur, a resident of Lucknow, who put up an RTI application and wanted to know that whether Radia is really involved in serious issues of 2G Scam or she is just been figured at discussion stage.

  • On this, CBI filed Act 8(1)(h) of the RTI act which allows unrevealing of information which may affect probe.

  • Sailesh Gandhi, Information Commissioner directed CBI to issue public Information till 10th June 2011.

  • Group of companies are accused of receiving telecom spectrum at very low prices in 2G Spectrum Scam.
